The Sheltering Sky

1947… Port Moresby (John Malkovich) and his wife, Kit (Debra Winger), are a weary married couple who arrive in North Africa. After ten years, living together has become difficult, and on this trip, they seek a reason to continue their life together, something that might lead them to rediscover each other. But that turning point never comes, and both turn to other people: Kit begins an affair with a fellow traveler, while Port finds himself attracted to a sensual Arab woman. Venturing ever deeper into the desert, neither will find relief or inspiration.
